    The best chicken sandwich anywhere.

And to the person below who said nothing but good things about this pub but only gave it two stars with a bizarre rationale.

Fiah and chips are my fave in the city and the customer service has been 5 stars both times I have been there.

Yesterday, I ventured into the Ft. Amherst Pub in Churchill Square for lunch. With one exception, there is nothing I can point to that is wrong with it. But also, there is nothing that particularly reaches out and grabs you about it. Although, I must say that the food was very good; the staff were friendly, attentive (but not overly), pleasant and efficient; and the blues on the sound system were interesting and not intrusive. But be warned: it's not actually a pub as most people I know would understand it - you can't get steak and kidney pie with chips, for example - but rather a "sprinkled with this and an infusion of that" type of restaurant. Which brings me to my one real criticism: the prices. Call me old fashioned, but I think $41 (including tax and tip) is a hell of lot of money to pay for a small plate of fish and chips and a glass of beer in a slightly re-furbished pizza joint.

Still working out the kinks. Feature fish and chips had good flavour, light crispy batter. Fries were excellent seasoned with salt and black cracked pepper. Blueberry Smash from the cocktail menu was good but better served in a tall glass with more ice but the house made syrup used was forward and delicious. Service still needs a lot of work. Friendly but poor menu knowledge. And the gravy was bland and greasy. Room is cute. With the right management they could be great. Pricey for pub fare. Craft cocktail prices more in line with higher end restaurants.

We had a great meal at Fort Amherst Pub on Wednesday. The atmosphere was very nice, our server Gabriel was beyond accommodating and pleasant, and the fries are to die for! What's more is the owner gives back to the community, which makes this a great place to support!
