  Beautifully scenic, delightfully Hostoric. Great place to park at night and take in the city lights. Nearby hiking trails such as the East coast hiking trail really add the the experience. Most appreciated in the warm summer months.

  Because of the topography, this area is not wheelchair accessible, but some of the best views can be enjoyed from the parking lot at the hill.

  There is a potential to just walk the main grounds or take the leap to do more hiking and see some of the other surrounding areas with hikes. I wish I had it in me to do but didn’t so chose to stay on the main landing and some of the nearby areas. Well worth it just to walk up and see the landscape around you. If you can get a guided tour, I would recommend it, to gain further context rather than just read through the exhibits. Parks Canada does a good job at these sites.

  The north head trail is a great hike to walk or even jog. Lots of stairs up and down. From the top you end up in the battery and can continue walking into downtown, or make your way back up to catch the whole view of the cit, the harbour and the endless sight of the ocean. There are also many other trails that feed off of the hill and link up all around the city.

  A national historic site we had to visit. This was especially suitable to do after we visited Cape Spear. The historical significance of this site, views and surrounding areas is really a big part of the history in the area. It also gave insight into the way communications was done way back in the day. We certainly take the way we can communicate, for granted now!

  It’s almost always windy so it’s a great idea to tie your hair and wear good shoes.
